NOLA SAMPLE PROJECT

FROM PIANOBOOK TO SOMETHING MORE

This project was started from wanting to participate in creating Kontakt pianos for the Pianobook community. I thought “well what would be a cool piano that I have access to and others would appreciate?” This question started me on a journey that has spanned three years and countless evolutions. My goal is to take this project to many different historical spaces in the city of New Orleans.

PRESERVING PRESERVATION HALL

EVOLUTIONS

Preserving Preservation Hall is the biggest step this project has made. It includes taking impulse responses for archival purposes to make a reverb of the hall that is so integral to the New Orleans music community. It also integrates virtual instrument sampling and teaching these skills to musicians as young as nine-years-old at the Ellis Marsalis Center for Music.

This project has had multiple iterations and while this chapter is coming to its close, there are more evolutions to come.
